I have loved dogs from a young age, and if you’re searching for a few reasons why you should get one, then you’re asking the right girl!

I don’t know where I would be without my furry bundles of joy. They bring me so much happiness, and if you’re thinking about picking up your own pup, then keep reading for just three reasons why you’re making the right decision.

1.     They’re incredibly loyal

I guarantee you that you will be hard pressed to find any animal that will show you the unconditional love and loyalty that a dog can. If you’ve had a terrible day, they will be there to greet you with a wagging tail and a happy disposition. Trust me, it’s enough to cheer anyone up!

You will always be the number one thing in the world that matters to them, but aside from that, specific breeds can exert a particularly strong guardian instinct. For example, if you want a medium-sized dog, Boxer dogs were bred to guard, and that element is still very much rooted in their instinct when left in the home. If you have kids, the Northumberland breed may be a huge dog, but they are known for their gentle and protective nature with children.

2.     They’ll help you through the toughest of times

I don’t know how I would have coped with some of the ups and downs in my life without the comfort of having Robbie by my side. While your friends, family and partner will always be there for you, it’s a different kind of bond with an animal.

There have been several studies on this comfort behaviour with dogs, and they seem to have almost a sixth sense when something is wrong. You’re the centre of their world, so when you’re upset, expect them to quietly observe you before coming up to comfort you. 3.     There’s a breed for everyone

It doesn’t matter what kind of person you are, what hobbies you have, or what kind of place you live in, there’s definitely a breed out there for you. If you’re the sporty type with a new hobby every other weekend, look to the energetic Siberian Husky, who will be only too happy to join you on your next adventure.

Or, do you prefer a long walk in the evening followed by a quiet night by the fire? In that case, curl up with a Golden Retriever. Intelligent, affectionate and great with children, they’re the perfect family pet.
